One $500 scholarship will be awarded at the RRDC awards banquet in January.
In order to make the selection as fair as possible, the following procedures are followed:
Each application remains completely anonymous when being read and voted on. It is identified by a number only.
Each member of the Board of Directors eligible to vote reads all applications individually. The Board members are sent copies of all of the applications. They then read them and without consulting any other Board member, vote for two using the number assigned to their application.
Board members make their selections based solely on the content of the application.
All applications must be postmarked by December 15, 2021 for consideration.
Grammar and spelling will be a consideration in judging the application.
Applicants must be planning to attend a two or four-year college, or any further education that requires at least a six month enrollment remaining. Applicant must be at least a senior in highschool.
Board members' children are eligible to apply. However, that Board member will not read or vote on any of the applications. Because of the judging method used (as directed above), Board members will not be aware of any other Board members' ineligibility to vote.
Previous RRDC scholarship winners are not eligible, but applicants may apply again if they did not in any previous year.
Applicants must be RRDC members in good standing for one calendar year prior to application.
The scholarship check will be sent to the winners upon receipt of a copy of the paid bill to the school.
Please answer both questions separately. The maximum length for both questions combined is two pages, which may be hand written or typed. As these are intended to remain anonymous while being judged, do not include any names in your responses. Staple a 3x5 index card with your name, address, and phone to your application. Do not put your name anywhere on the response pages.
1. How has your involvement with horses effected the person you are today?
